Small details, better drinks
- Dry white vermouth is not an unnamed swap for sweet red vermouth.
- A dash is a dispenser measure, not an exact milliliter. The calculator excludes its unknown volume.
- Bourbon makes a common variation, but rye is the base of this specification.
Good to know
Should I stir or shake?
Stir. Shaking changes clarity and aeration.
Is a Manhattan served on ice?
This version is strained and served up. Serving on fresh ice is a separate variation.
Which vermouth do I need?
Use sweet red vermouth. Read the label and follow its opened-bottle storage instructions.
