How to make it
Click a step number to mark it as done.
Put ice in a chilled rocks glass.
Measure equal volumes of gin, Campari and sweet red vermouth.
Pour the ingredients over the ice and stir gently.
Add half an orange slice and serve in the same glass.
Small details, better drinks
- Sweet red vermouth is not the same ingredient as dry white vermouth.
- Store opened vermouth according to its label; oxidation changes its flavor.
- Learn the base ratio before trying to reduce bitterness by changing a single ingredient.
Good to know
What is the Negroni ratio?
Equal parts, 1:1:1. This recipe uses 30 ml of each of the three liquid ingredients.
Should I shake a Negroni?
No. This version is gently stirred directly in an ice-filled glass.
Can I replace Campari with Aperol?
That makes a different variation, changing bitterness, sweetness and strength rather than reproducing the base recipe.
