Hangover and blood alcohol: what can a calculator tell you?

A hangover and a BAC estimate describe different things. Understand what the curve can explain about the morning after.

Can I have a hangover at zero BAC?

Yes. Hangover symptoms often peak as blood alcohol approaches zero and may last 24 hours or longer. Feeling better does not establish your BAC, and feeling unwell does not tell you how much alcohol remains.

Can a calculator tell me when my hangover will end?

No. It models alcohol absorption and elimination, not the duration of headache, nausea or fatigue. Coffee and a shower do not cure a hangover. Use the curve to understand an estimate, not to assess your fitness to drive.

How does the BAC calculator work?

The calculator converts each serving’s volume and strength into an amount of pure alcohol, then models absorption and elimination minute by minute. Weight, sex, age, height and food are included. It uses the Cheers model with standard hydration and one shared absorption rate for all servings online.

Sober time calculator — alcohol elimination estimate

This is only an estimate. Never drive after alcohol.
